Fugitive Safe Surrender
PSA was a major contributor to the Fugitive Safe Surrender initiatives conducted in 2007 and in 2011 in conjunction with CSOSA, U.S. Attorney’s Office, D.C. Office of the Attorney General, U.S. Marshals Service, Public Defender Service, Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Superior Court. This coordinated effort was designed to have persons wanted on outstanding warrants surrender themselves at a community-based church in exchange for favorable consideration of their case, by both the court and the prosecuting agency. More than 550 persons surrendered during the three-day period in 2007 and 856 in 2011.
